Batra inspects under-construction Science City at UCOST

 The Science and Technology minister Pradeep Batra visited the Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology (UCOST), Vigyan Dham here on Wednesday. During the visit, he conducted a detailed on-site inspection of the under-construction Science City and held a review meeting with UCOST officials regarding various activities, ongoing projects and upcoming initiatives of the council.

During the inspection of the Science City construction site, Batra emphasised regular monitoring of the construction progress, effective quality control and adherence to the targets to ensure timely completion of the project.

The minister said that the State government is committed to developing Uttarakhand as a leading hub of science, technology, innovation and information technology in the country. “Science City will not merely be a physical infrastructure project, but will emerge as an important centre that will provide new opportunities and wings to the aspirations of the State’s young generation,” he said, adding that it is being developed with world-class facilities for students and youth, including Robotics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Space Technology and Astronomy, along with modern innovation laboratories.

He expressed confidence that these initiatives would provide the youth of Uttarakhand with greater opportunities in research, innovation, entrepreneurship, start-ups and self-employment, thereby contributing to the State’s socio-economic development.

During the visit, he also addressed the people through ‘Vigyan Vani’ 88.8 FM. He commended ‘Vigyan Vani’ for its role in promoting science communication and public awareness, describing it as an important and people-oriented platform for disseminating scientific knowledge and information to society.
