Bed sheet confusion over, district hospital resumes procurement

Following clarification by the director general of Health, the administration of Deen Dayal Upadhyay District Hospital has initiated the procurement process for colourful bed linens designated for the patient wards. Notably, the State Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat had recently instructed all government hospitals in the State to regularly change bed linens at the patient wards. He had further recommended the hospital management to use bed linens in a variety of colours corresponding to each day of the week.
In accordance with the guidance from the Health minister, the district hospital administration has commenced the acquisition of bed linens in different colours for each day.
However, while procuring bed linens in various colours, the administration was confused regarding the frequency of changing bed linens, specifically whether the change should be weekly or daily. To avoid any potential violations of these guidelines, the hospital administration temporarily halted bed linen purchase. Further, they wrote to the director general of Health, seeking clarification on the matter. Even after the administration received a response from the director general of Health, the clarification remained insufficient. Consequently, they once again reached out to the director general, Health, requesting a more straightforward explanation of the guidelines.
Commenting on the current status, the medical superintendent at the district hospital Dr V S Chauhan said that the second clarification letter has been received from the director general of Health. Following the receipt of this second letter, the hospital has initiated the procurement process for these colourful bed linens intended for the patient wards. “We hope that this process will complete in 15 days after which the guidelines will be implemented in the hospital. We will purchase around 2,000 bed linens,” Chauhan said.
To recall, Chauhan earlier had informed that the funding for these linens would come from the State government under the Ayushman scheme.
As per the guidelines, a white bed sheet will be spread in the ward on Monday, pink on Tuesday, green on Wednesday, yellow on Thursday, purple on Friday, blue on Saturday and light grey on Sunday.
