BJP alleges Congress’ conspiracy behind youth protests over UKSSSC issue

Bharatiya Janata Party senior leader and Dharampur MLA Vinod Chamoli has claimed that a Congress conspiracy may be behind the youth protests over alleged irregularities in the UKSSSC exams. Chamoli told the media on Friday that some slogans raised during the protests resemble those used by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in his rallies and local Congress leaders have admitted to initiating similar slogans. He expressed concern over “anti-national” slogans which originated in Kashmir being raised in Uttarakhand- known for its proportionately high representation in the armed forces.

Chamoli said that a judicial inquiry is ongoing and urged people to wait for the results. He added that neither the BJP nor the State government has any objection to a CBI or other investigation. He said that the main concern is that recruitment processes for youth may be disrupted, as investigations could delay exams for one or two years. He asked the youths to trust the government, stating that police have already arrested the main accused and the judicial inquiry has been announced too.

Chamoli claimed that the slogans raised during the protests clearly indicate Congress involvement, citing local leader Harak Singh Rawat’s admission of certain slogans. He also accused UKD and other parties of exploiting the issue for political gain and noted the participation of members of the Communist Party in repeating slogans linked to past movements in Kashmir and JNU. Chamoli said that raising such slogans in a State with a strong presence in the military is unacceptable and emphasised that the government will ensure accountability once facts are established.
