BJP criticises Selja for ignoring disaster victims of Uttarakhand

The Bharatiya Janata Party said that the in-charge of Uttarakhand Congress Kumari Selja only talked about politics and not about victims of disasters in Dharali during her visit to the State on Wednesday. The State BJP president and Rajya Sabha member Mahendra Bhatt stated that the Congress leader did not express any concern for those who lost their lives or were injured in the recent disaster.
He said that her visit was limited to internal party matters and complaints instead of addressing the suffering of affected people in Uttarakhand. Selja should have acknowledged the pain of those affected in Dharali and Tharali. Bhatt further stated the people here gave BJP 11 district Panchayat president seats, showing their support for the government’s work. He claimed that Congress leaders persuaded her for more than a year to visit the State, yet she used the opportunity only for political discussions.
Responding to Selja’s claim that Panchayat poll results indicate political change in the State, Bhatt said that winning only one out of 12 seats cannot be called change. He stated that the people have supported the BJP by repeating the government in the State, electing the Modi government at the Centre for the third time and backing the party in local body and Panchayat elections. The Congress should accept the outcome and advise its leaders to give up negative politics, he added.
