People have given mandate of change in Panchayat polls: Selja

The in-charge of Uttarakhand Congress Kumari Selja has said that the recent Panchayat elections in the State have clearly shown that the people of Uttarakhand want a change of guard in the State. She said that the people of the State have got fed up with the BJP government. Interacting with the media persons at the headquarters of the State Congress on Wednesday, Selja said that the intention of change is visible at grass root level but the BJP used money and muscle power in these elections.
She said that the irregularities in the Panchayat elections have made the Congress party alert. She expressed confidence that the party will emerge stronger in the coming times and the new district and block presidents will strengthen the party. Selja said that all the Congressmen will work unitedly to ensure victory of the Congress party in the assembly elections in 2027.
She said that the party has started the Sangathan Srijan programme which has proved successful in many states. Selja said that from September 2, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) observers and the observers appointed by the State unit will tour their respective districts and submit their reports. She added that based on the report of the observers the appointment of presidents of block and district units will be done.
In her visit Selja held meetings with the MLAs, senior leaders with the observers of the Sangathan Srijan programme. In these meetings she focussed on strengthening the party organisation and exhorted the leaders to work unitedly to dislodge the BJP from power in Uttarakhand in the assembly elections of 2027. The AICC has appointed one observer each for the 27 organisational districts in the State while the state unit has appointed a total of 81 (three in each district) under the Sangathan Srijan programme.
The co-in-charges of Uttarakhand Congress Pargat Singh and Surendra Sharma, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara, the leader of opposition in Vidhan Sabha Yashpal Arya, former chief minister Harish Rawat, former PCC presidents Pritam Singh and Ganesh Godiyal, the deputy leader of Congress legislature party Bhuwan Kapdi, senior leader Harak Singh Rawat, Survir Singh Sajwan, vice president Suryakant Dhasmana, Congress party MLAs and other senior leaders attended the meeting.
