A few hours after stating that Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami should emulate his Uttar Pradesh counterpart Yogi Adityanath when it comes to tackling ‘jihadi’ elements, Bharatiya Janata Party MLA T Raja Singh X’ed praising Dhami.
While addressing a Mahapanchayat organised by Hindu bodies in Uttarkashi, Singh was diplomatic yet critical of the BJP government in Uttarakhand for its failure to check the spread of certain elements in the State. However, shortly after his speech, the MLA X’ed praising Dhami and the 5,000 acres of land the State government had removed encroachments from. He said, “The Dhami government is dedicatedly working against the land jihad, mazar jihad and spit jihad which were rising in Uttarakhand. Even though Uttarakhand may be a small State the courageous decisions of the Dhami government have provided a new identity to Uttarakhand.” He exhorted Dhami to continue working in this direction while greeting him for his efforts to “uplift” Sanatan culture.
According to political observers, the Mahapanchayat in Uttarkashi was intended to be a major affair, eliciting strong sentiments from the public. However, despite getting a firebrand leader, the party has not been able to elicit the response that it was aiming for. If sources are to be believed, the MLA in question was not even aware about the state of affairs in Uttarakhand, including the work done by the BJP government.
