A sports enthusiast and former student union president of Kumaon University‘s DSB campus Arvind Singh Padiyar served a memorandum to the district magistrate Vandana Singh, urging him to take initiative for formulating a special swimming policy for Naini Lake. Notably, Padiyar is now a senior BJP leader.
“As swimming is good for health of all, irrespective of ages, I have appealed to the DM to constitute a committee to promote water games like kayaking and swimming. For this, trainers must be appointed. I have also urged her to direct the Nainital municipality, district sports department and other related institutions to identify a fixed place for swimming in Naini Lake while firming up a clear swimming policy,” he added.
He further said that many sports lovers had signed the memorandum along with him.
