BJP leadership miffed at leaders staking claim to party ticket on social media

With some party leaders already becoming active on social media and other platforms to elicit support for their candidature in the coming Vidhan Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party leadership is dissatisfied with such actions of some of its leaders. The party has stated that it will accord top priority to capable party workers who are also dedicated to the party. The BJP State president and Rajya Sabha member Mahendra Bhatt said that party members should stake claim to the party ticket at the proper forum instead of using social media or a public platform.
He said that staking a claim for the Vidhan Sabha ticket or making any other claim on social media or a public platform is not in accordance with the party’s discipline. Any worker with a wish, claim or suggestion should put it forward at the appropriate forum at the right time. “Electoral ambitions are natural in a democratic system but the time and manner of expressing it is decided in the party’s system. It is necessary for all party members to follow the system otherwise their actions may be deemed as indiscipline. The State and central leadership of the party is not happy with news of some leaders staking claim to the party ticket for the coming Vidhan Sabha election on media and social media,” he said.
The BJP State president said that the party is the world’s largest political organisation which consistently works on cultural nationalism and its ideology. A major reason behind this is the party’s dedication to the ideal of ‘nation first, organisation second and individual last’. Stating that it is natural for political workers to have ambitions and that they have the right to express the same, he stressed that the proper platform and process should be used for it. “The party organisation respects all its workers while according top priority to ability and dedication. Considering this, the decision is taken as per organisational procedure and merit under the guidance of the central leadership,” Bhatt said. He advised party workers to rise above individual aspirations and keep the party’s dignity and discipline above it. The organisation will not hesitate from taking strict action against those violating the party discipline, he warned.
It will be recalled that among others, cabinet minister and Mussoorie MLA Ganesh Joshi, former Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ and party leader Ravinder Jugran had recently become active on social media regarding candidature for the party ticket from the Mussoorie Assembly constituency.
