The Bharatiya Janata Party has stated that the inauguration of the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has opened the development expressway for Uttarakhand. Thanking the PM for this development, the BJP State president and Rajya Sabha member Mahendra Bhatt said that it will now be impossible to stall the developmental pace of the State. At the same time, pointing at the Congress for trying to find gaps even at such a historic occasion, he said that the party should get accustomed to the development which the people are experiencing.

In a statement released to the media, the BJP State president said that the opening of the much-awaited expressway here has heralded the start of Uttarakhand’s decade. He said, “This is the highway of development which will enhance not only trade and commerce but also boost tourism and health services. The development projects launched by the PM show that Uttarakhand is picking pace in its development journey,” he said.

Bhatt further said that along with the economic present provided by the PM during this visit, the welcome accorded to him by the people of Uttarakhand was also historic. He said that the manner in which the people welcomed PM Modi with enthusiasm and affection was unprecedented. “Despite Dehradun being a small city from the viewpoint of population, the general public and party workers thronged in large numbers to welcome the PM and listen to his speech. Thousands of people waited for hours to get a glimpse of their favourite leader and thank him for the gift he had given to Uttarakhand. The PM did not disappoint and built excellent rapport with the public during the road show and at his public address,” the BJP State chief said.

Referring to the allegations levelled by the Congress leaders of the State, the BJP State president said that they should now cultivate the habit of seeing development and living with it. He said that trying to grab news space on every issue is not an appreciable form of politics. “Congress leaders shutting their eyes does not hide the reality. The people are experiencing development and public welfare schemes and benefitting from these. By spreading lies and confusion in such a scenario, the Congress leaders are losing their remaining credibility. The people of the State have faith in the policies and intentions of PM Modi and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami,” Bhatt said.
