Sensitive issues of Uttarakhand ignored by Modi: Godiyal

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun

Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal said the Prime Minister Narendra Modi didn’t touch any of the sensitive and important issues concerning Uttarakhand during his visit to the State on Tuesday.

In a statement, Godiyal said that the Congress party had sought response from the PM on 10 important issues of the State but he chose to steer clear of these questions.  Godiyal said that in his address the PM mentioned about the rich tradition of armed forces in the State but the fact is that the Agnipath scheme has dealt a mortal blow on the aspiration of the youngsters of the State planning to make a career in the armed forces.

The PCC said that Uttarakhand has achieved a dubious distinction of being the State with highest number of cases of crimes against women. He said that the most concerning aspect is the involvement of ruling party members in these crimes. He said that unemployment is at its peak in the State and the ongoing paper leak cases are consistently undermining the interests of the State’s youth. Godiyal stated that the murder of Ankita Bhandari had tarnished the image of Devbhoomi. He said that Ankita has not yet received justice, raising serious questions about the judicial system. “The name of a top BJP leader is emerging as a VIP involved in this case, but to date, his identity has not been made public, nor has he been fully investigated,’’ he said.

Godiyal said that the people of Uttarakhand had expected that the PM would make some positive announcements and utter something about the most sensitive issues facing the State but the PM has disappointed them.
