Blood donation camp & voter awareness programme organised

A voluntary blood donation camp was organized at the District Hospital, Uttarkashi on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day on Sunday. The programme was organised under the joint auspices of the Indian Red Cross Society, SWEEP Uttarkashi and the District Legal Services Authority. The programme was inaugurated by the chief guest, Civil Judge (senior division) Sachin Kumar. Setting an example, he donated blood in the programme. The officers and soldiers of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, paralegal volunteers, advocates and local youth also enthusiastically donated blood.
Addressing the event, Kumar said that blood donation is the best form of donation that can give a new life to someone in need. He urged people to regularly donate blood voluntarily and to inspire their family and friends to do the same.
Along with the blood donation camp, a voter awareness programme was also organized under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in collaboration with SWEEP Uttarkashi. During this, the voters and youth present were given detailed information about the process of filling the counting form, voter mapping and the importance of registering names in the voter list.
Chief Medical Officer Dr BS Rawat, Chairman of the Indian Red Cross Society, Uttarkashi, Madhav Joshi, Red Cross secretary Dr Ratan Mani Bhatt, SWEEP in-charge Shambhu Prasad Nautiyal and others attended the programme.
