A Dehradun resident filed a complaint with the police, alleging that a woman and her associates had trapped him by offering body massage services and then threatened to implicate him in a false rape case. The accused had allegedly extorted several lakhs of rupees from the complainant at gunpoint. Based on the man’s complaint, police have registered a case against the main accused, a woman, and her associates at Rajpur police station on Tuesday.
The in-charge, Rajpur police station, P D Bhatt said that a 48-year-old resident of the IT Park area had filed the complaint, stating that he had come into contact with a woman named Sandeep Kaur through WhatsApp about six months ago. The woman allegedly sent him her photograph and offered body massage services for Rs 8,000. After providing the service, she remained in regular contact with the complainant through WhatsApp calls and allegedly continued to extract money from him through online transfers and cash payments.
As per the complaint, Kaur called the man on April 25, and demanded Rs 15 lakh in cash. When he refused, Kaur and her associates, identified as Rahul and Parvinder Singh among others, allegedly surrounded him outside the IT Park police outpost, posing as lawyers. They reportedly threatened to implicate him in a false rape case and send him to jail. Scared, the complainant transferred Rs 1.10 lakh online to the woman’s bank account.
The accused then allegedly pointed a pistol at him and took him to a bank ATM near Kirsali Chowk, where they allegedly intimidated him into withdrawing Rs 50,000 in cash and took the money from him.
The gang allegedly continued pressuring the man, forcing him to fill out a cheque of Rs 1.80 lakh in the name of Kaur in order to save himself.
The Rajpur SHO, P D Bhatt said that a case has been registered against the accused and an investigation is underway.
