In latest news from Uttarakhand, with the Lok Sabha poll drawing near, the Uttarkashi district magistrate and district election officer Meharban Singh Bisht directed the senior officers of several departments to embark on the election preparation work promptly. He stressed on maximum use of information technology and the string of apps devised by the Election Commission in electioneering works. Also, he urged the officers to go all-out to ensure that the polling rate improves substantially in the booths where it was low in the last election. He laid stress on conducting voter awareness campaigns in the low-polling booths to boost the polling rate. Besides, the DM instructed the assistant returning officers to regularly visit the booths in their areas and make all arrangements to facilitate glitch- free and moderate to heavy polling.
