The Bharatiya Janata Party State president Mahendra Bhatt welcomed the governor Gurmit Singh’s address in the Vidhan Sabha claiming that it is a document which validates the commitment to a developed Uttarakhand. He said that the stance of the opposition shows its “negative” intentions towards the session.
The BJP State president opined that the governor’s address made it clear that historic development works and public welfare schemes have been executed under chief minister Pushkar Sigh Dhami’s leadership. The address mentioned the government’s priorities for 2025-26 in which women, the youth and ex-servicemen feature prominently. “Our government has made it clear that we are consistently striving towards making Uttarakhand an empowered and prosperous State while focusing on the development of all the sections of society. The governor’s address also mentioned economic prosperity, social justice, women’s welfare and historic efforts for infrastructural development,” Bhatt said.
Referring to the opposition’s stance during the governor’s address, Bhatt termed it a denigration of constitutional tradition. “The house is the best platform for debate on the very issues on which the Congress members were protesting. Their entire focus was on raising ruckus and grabbing media space whereas the reality is that the Congress is bereft of issues and ides. This is the reason why it lacks any concrete facts or logic to state in the Assembly. The Congress is proving to be an utter failure in its role of being a responsible opposition. When work is needed at the ground level for the public, their leaders limit themselves to Press conferences. Opportunities to raise public interest issues in the house are wasted by raising ruckus and hindering the constitutional process,”the BJP State president said.
