BRICS academic midterm conference to be held in Dehradun on May 29

The BRICS academic midterm conference will be held in Dehradun on May 29, in collaboration with the Observer Research Foundation, the Research and Information System for Developing Countries and Doon University. This conference aligns with the theme of “Building Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainable Development,” which is the core vision of India’s BRICS chairmanship.

According to officials, the inaugural session of the conference will be addressed by chief secretary Anand Bardhan.

The conference aims to bring together leading scholars, policy experts and thinkers from BRICS countries and will focus on three key pillars: green industrial transition in a fragmented global economy, biodiversity conservation through indigenous knowledge systems and expanding climate finance to ensure an equitable and just green transition, they added.

President of the Observer Research Foundation Samir Saran stated that cooperation and mutual consultation among BRICS countries. He emphasised that if BRICS countries can reach a common consensus, they will serve as a guiding model for the world.

Secretary (Economic Relations) in the Ministry of External Affairs Sudhakar Dalela, said, “The BRICS Academic Forum has consistently been an important pillar of the BRICS process. It brings together scholars and policy experts to discuss today’s most pressing global challenges and translates those ideas into practical suggestions for BRICS leaders.”
