SSP reviews safety arrangements with hotel owners

With the upcoming New Year celebrations slated in the provisional capital Dehradun, the senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh held a meeting with hotel owners to discuss safety arrangements as large crowds are expected during this period.

The SSP instructed the hotel owners and organisers to complete all security and safety arrangements in advance. He emphasised the importance of fire safety and said that fire safety audits must be conducted. Singh also directed that all fire safety equipment should be kept in proper working condition. The SSP further said that organisers must not play loud music after the prescribed time limit and must strictly follow all safety rules.

The SSP further directed event organisers to arrange proper parking for vehicles and deploy enough security guards at their premises. “Inform the police immediately in case of any dispute or suspicious activity,” he said. Instructions were also given to keep CCTV cameras functional, maintain updated registers and also share information about foreign guests with the Local Intelligence Unit. He also said that hotel owners should keep registers updated, prevent illegal activities and unruly behaviour, not play loud music beyond the prescribed time limit and keep fire safety equipment in functional conditions.

Furthermore, instructions were given to staff employed at their establishments to maintain courteous behaviour with tourists and visitors. The SSP also appealed to all citizens to welcome the New Year with joy and enthusiasm but to refrain from driving under the influence of alcohol and creating nuisance at public places.
