Rudrapayag district administration has registered cases against 52 individuals including journalist turned politician Tribhuwan Chauhan for creating disturbance and inciting people during the Diwara Yatra of Agastyamuni Maharaj on Thursday.

Some people demolished an arched gate made of concrete during the Yatra of the Muni Maharaj on Thursday. They alleged that the gate was obstructing the route of their Doli (Palanquin) carrying the idol of Agastyamuni. According to them, the Doli refused to move forward till the arched gate was removed.   The Yatra held every 15 years commenced on Wednesday from the temple of Agastyamuni. However the Doli stopped near the arched gate and went back to the temple.

On Thursday, the procession carrying the Doli again started again from the temple and again stopped near the gate prompting some people including women to demolish the gate.

Taking stern note of the incident, the district magistrate of Rudraprayg ,Pratik Jain visited the site on Thursday and directed the administration and police to take strict action on those responsible for damaging the public property, inciting the people and obstructing the national highway.     Meanwhile, those associated with the Yatra have claimed that the district administration was requested to remove the gate two weeks ago as it was obstructing the traditional route.
