The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) on Wednesday reviewed the progress of the ongoing census preparations at a meeting chaired by the municipal commissioner, Namami Bansal, who is also serving as the principal census officer for the exercise. The meeting was attended by the nodal officer, census- in-charge officers and five charge officers. Bansal informed that the census will be conducted in two phases. “The first phase will cover house listing and housing-related details, while the second phase will focus on population data and socio-economic information,” she said.

Under the first phase, the municipal area has been divided into five charges, with a total of 1,958 House Listing Blocks (HLBs) created. Enumerators have been deployed in each block and 340 supervisors have been assigned to monitor the process and ensure smooth implementation on the ground.

Bansal further said that the training sessions for enumerators and supervisors are currently underway at multiple locations, including Municipal Corporation Hall, auditorium of Government Doon Medical College, SGRR Institute and Doon University. The training programme will continue till April 22.

During the meeting, the principal census officer stressed that the census is a crucial national exercise and directed the officials concerned to ensure that the process is carried out with utmost transparency and accuracy and is completed within the stipulated timeline.

She also highlighted the self-enumeration facility available from April 10 to April 24, allowing residents to register on the official portal and submit their details online.

Bansal said that the field verification will also be conducted alongside the digital process to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the collected data.
