Central Silk Board to provide financial assistance to U’khand

The newly appointed member secretary of the Central Silk Board P Shiv Kumar assured that the board will provide 100 per cent financial assistance on the proposals of the federation and suggested that a detailed project report should be submitted to the board in 15 days. Kumar said this while visiting the silk directorate and office of the Uttarakhand Silk Federation in Dehradun. He was on a two-day tour of the State. He assured that financial assistance will be provided by the board. Kumar appreciated the activities of the federation in Uttarakhand and suggested that QR codes mentioning the details of the weaver/ beneficiary should be placed on all the products of the federation within one month. He also visited the proposed Resham Ghar of the Central Silk Board in the Silk Park. Kumar later visited the silk thread unit at the growth centre Selaqui, Sari manufacturing unit and Koya Bazaar and inquired about infrastructure facilities. The member secretary was formally welcomed at the silk directorate by director Pradeep Kumar. He presented a detailed account of the activities of the directorate and the projects undertaken by it.
In the meeting Kumar suggested that the State should have a clear policy for production of quality silk seed and the State should move forward in the sector with the help of the union government. He added that the State should start producing a commercial silk crop apart from the conventional crops. The State should undertake the plantation of silk feeder plants in a planned manner for increasing the production of all types of the silk. These measures will help the State in meeting its target of production, he said.
The chairman of the silk federation Chaudhary Ajit Singh, managing director Anand Shukla, assistant director Vinod Tiwari, scientists and others accompanied Kumar in his visit.
