In a big relief to the Central government employees and pensioners, the Central government has approved increase of the dearness allowance by 4 per cent as part of the 7th Pay Commission. Over one crore employees and pensioners would be benefited by this increase. It has brought the DA total to 42 per cent from 38 per cent. Notably, DA is provided to compensate for the rising prices. The Central government has announced that the DA increase would be implemented retroactively from January 1, 2023.
