Centre committed to welfare of poor- Union minister

Union minister for Coal and Mines, and Parliamentary Affairs, Pralhad Joshi said that the Central government is committed to the welfare of the poor. All the eligible citizens are to be covered by the various welfare schemes being facilitated by the government, he said. The minister was speaking at an interaction with beneficiaries of centrally funded schemes here on the second day of his district tour on Monday.
Joshi said that in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, under the PM Awas Yojana, nobody will be without a home by 2024. Under the Kisan Samman Nidhi, about Rs 12,000 crore is being transferred directly to the accounts of farmers every year. He said that tap water will be made available in every home under the Jal Jeevan Mission while under the one nation- one ration card scheme, a citizen can procure ration from anywhere in the country. Joshi further said that about Rs 2,25,000 crore which used to end up with middlemen has reached the intended beneficiaries under the Jan Dhan Yojana. The minister said that under PM Modi, about Rs 3,60,000 crore is being spent for ensuring water supply in every home. Though supplying water in homes is the task of the State government, PM Modi has taken up this task while sitting at the Centre, said Joshi.
Interacting with beneficiaries of the central schemes, the Union minister asked them about the benefits they had received and problems they had faced. He interacted with beneficiaries of PM Awas Yojana, Kisan Samman Nidhi, national child nutrition, Matri Vandana Yojana, Swachchh Bharat Mission, Ujjwala Yojana, PM Garib Kalyan Yojana and Ayushman Bharat Yojana.Members of women self help groups also shared their experiences with the minister. Cabinet minister Subodh Uniyal, Tehri MP Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, MLAs Shaktilal Shah, Vinod Kandari, other public representatives and district level officials were also present on the occasion.
