The Bharatiya Janata Party has once again questioned the intentions of the Congress, citing the controversial Dhaulas land allotment to Mahmood Asad Madani’s Sheikh-ul-Hind Education Trust near the Indian Military Academy. MLA and BJP State spokesman Vinod Chamoli alleged that Madani and his organisation have a track record of extremist activities and questioned why the then Congress government allotted land to him putting at risk the security of the nation’s premier military institution. He opined that it is shameful that, blinded by its own appeasement politics, the Congress stands in support of those who committed land fraud with the local residents.
Interacting with media persons at the BJP State headquarters here on Wednesday, Chamoli said that those who were refuting their earlier promise of establishing a Muslim university will have to reply to serious questions regarding the Dhaulas land allotment. “The Congress government in 2004 alloted the land to Mahmud Madani, whose Jamiyat Ulema-e-Hind organisation is known to be involved in extremist activities. Those inspired by this organisation or those following it have been found to be involved in terrorist, extremist and anarchist incidents in the nation and abroad. The Congress allotting land to such a blacklisted organisation is highly questionable. That the land was allotted near a premier military institution and army depot is also questionable despite strong opposition from the Indian Military Academy and the local residents,” Chamoli said.
He alleged that the Congress repeatedly puts the security and identity of Uttarakhand at stake in its greed for Muslim votes. Despite the repeated lessons taught to it by the public in the elections, the Congress remains blinded by its affection for a particular community, he said. The government will certainly take action against those who have defrauded the public, he added.
