Char Dham pilgrims to get Rs 1 lakh insurance cover

Those undertaking the Char Dham Yatra will not receive Rs one lakh insurance cover. The Tourism and Culture minister Satpal Maharaj who is facilitating the insurance said that it is dedicated to the memory of his late parents Hans Maharaj and Rajrajeshwari Devi.
The Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) chairman Ajendra Ajay thanked Maharaj and his Manav Utthan Seva Samiti organisation through which the insurance cover is being facilitated. The organisation will provide the facility through the BKTC. The insurance amount will be payable to the pilgrims by the United India Insurance Company Limited, Dehradun. The insurance cover will be provided in case any pilgrim meets with an accident in the temple compounds of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. The Manav Utthan Seva Samiti has paid the premium amount to the insurance company. Thanking the minister, the BKTC chairman said that for the first time insurance cover is being provided to Char Dham pilgrims. The BKTC chief executive officer BD Singh has written to the sub divisional magistrates of Joshimath (Badrinath), Ukhimath (Kedarnath), Badkot (Yamunotri) and Bhatwadi (Gangotri) regarding the insurance cover to be given in case of a mishap with any pilgrim in the temple compound.
