Cinema hall operators to promote online ticket booking

Following state government permission to operate cinema halls in full occupancy, the cinema halls operators of Dehradun have decided to promote the online booking of tickets to minimise the risk of spread of Covid-19 contagion among staff and the audience.

Talking about the operation of cinema halls with full occupancy, the operators said that the filmmakers were reluctant to release their movies in big screens with only 50 percent occupancy but now since the government has allowed full occupancy, new movies will be released in an increased regularity.

“The public arrives in cinema halls when new movies are released by filmmakers. The public is waiting for movies and when the new movies will be released regularly, people will return back to cinema halls,” said the manager of PVR Cinemas in Dehradun, Manoj Bisht. He also informed that PVR is also issuing paperless tickets to customers for offline booking of tickets as a precautionary measure against the pandemic. “We have gone 100 percent paperless with movie tickets as a preventive measure against Covid-19 disease and it is good for our environment too,” said Bisht.

Moreover, the manager of New Empire Cinema in Rajpur Road, Kulwant Singh also stated that they are promoting online booking of tickets to minimise the risk of spread of contagion between staff and public. He added that they are ready to operate with 100 percent occupancy while taking all the precautionary measures as per the guidelines of the government. “The number of people arriving to watch movies has been quite low for last many months but with the new movie releases, we hope that the public will return to the cinema halls like they did before the pandemic,” said Singh.
