Bomb threat mail triggers search op in district court

Security was tightened in and around the district and sessions court here on Monday after it received a bomb threat email. Immediately upon receiving the information, police, bomb disposal squad (BDS) and dog squad rushed to the scene. The court premises were immediately cordoned off and an intensive search operation was launched. The surrounding areas were also thoroughly searched for suspicious objects.
The mail, sent from an undisclosed email ID, claimed that 12 RDX-based IEDs were planted in the court premises, which could explode at around 12:15 PM. The email is stated to have mentioned EWS reservation and named the banned outfits- Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
Speaking of the matter, the circle officer, Ravikanth Semwal said that an extensive checking operation was being conducted. “We are conducting intensive searches in the court premises and surrounding areas. An order has been issued too to register FIR in this case,” he added.
