Class XII exams of U’khand board cancelled

Toeing the line taken by the Union government the Uttarakhand government has also decided to cancel the class XII examination of the Uttarakhand Vidyalayi Shiksha Parishad (UVSP) on Wednesday. On the order of Prime Minister Narendra Modi the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had cancelled its class XII board examination on Tuesday.
On Wednesday the decision of not holding the class XII examination of Uttarakhand board was taken in a meeting of senior officers of state administration, education department and UVSP at state secretariat. The meeting was chaired by Education minister Arvind Pandey. The minister told the media persons after the meeting that the decision was taken on the directive of chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat. He said that no student would be declared a failure in the class XII board examination this year. Pandey said that the officers of the department have been directed to prepare a plan for declaring the result. This plan would be in accordance with the process followed by the CBSE. He said that decision was taken in the larger interest of students, their parents and the teachers. The meeting was attended by chief secretary Om Prakash, Secretary Education R Meenakshi Sundaram, Director General (DG) education Vinay Shankar Pandey and others.
The class X and XII examinations of UVSP were scheduled to start from May 4 but in view of the second wave of pandemic the class X examinations were cancelled and class XII were deferred. A total 123485 students were enrolled for Class XII examination of Uttarakhand board.
