In latest news from Uttarakhand, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid glowing tribute to the two members of the House who had recently passed away as the three-day monsoon session commenced at Gairsain. These two leaders are the former Kedarnath MLA Saila Rani Rawat and the former Champawat MLA Kailash Chandra Gahtori.
Speaking of Saila Rani Rawat, he said that her dedication to the cause of the State and the constituency she represented was exemplary. She would raise up important issues related to the common people forcefully in the House, forcing ministers to take serious note of them, he said and added that even when she was not the MLA she had plunged into rescue and relief work in the aftermath of the Kedarnath deluge 2013.
The CM became emotional while recalling his close association with Gahtori. He remembered how he had vacated his Champawat seat to enable him to contest after he had lost the Assembly election from Khatima. His death was an irreparable personal loss for me, he said.
