Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami handed over appointment letters to newly selected 101 candidates in the Animal Husbandry, Sugarcane Development and Sugar Industry departments at his residence on Thursday. The new appointees include 88 livestock extension officers and 13 sugarcane supervisors. Congratulating the newly appointed officers, the CM expressed hope that they will use their knowledge, energy and new ideas to make government operations more effective and to set an example through their work ethic.
He said that the State government has implemented the country’s strictest anti-copying law to ensure transparency in recruitment processes and protect the interests of youth. “Today, government jobs are being awarded not through recommendation or credentials but through the hard work and talent of youngsters. In the last five years, more than 34,000 young people have been successful in obtaining government jobs. This is the result of a transparent recruitment system and our commitment to provide opportunities to youth based on their talent,’’ the CM said.
He said that the Animal Husbandry, Sugarcane Development and Sugar Industry departments are directly linked to the State’s rural economy. In the mountainous regions, animal husbandry is a vital source of livelihood for thousands of families, economic empowerment of women and prosperity for villages. The State government is working to make animal husbandry a powerful medium for employment, self-employment and rural development. He averred that the State government is also committed to the interests of sugarcane farmers. The sugarcane survey system has been made online and transparent. Sugarcane clinics and counselling centres have been established to provide farmers with information on new technology, improved sugarcane varieties and scientific farming. He added that the sugarcane farmers in Uttarakhand are receiving a higher price of Rs 5 per quintal compared to those in Uttar Pradesh.
Cabinet ministers Saurabh Bahuguna, Ganesh Joshi and Khajan Das, Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, MLA Savita Kapoor, Durgeshwar Lal, secretary SN Pandey and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
