Godiyal questions Dhami Govt for no action in Haldwani purification incident

Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president, Ganesh Godiyal has said that it is unfortunate that the State government has taken no action even after 24 days in the Haldwani incident in which some people performed ‘purification’ of the ground where the Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge had addressed a public meeting.  He said that what is more concerning is that both the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and State BJP president Mahendra Bhatt defended and supported those who were engaged in the heinous act of purification.

 Godiyal said that on Thursday, the Congress president has written a letter to the Union minister and leader of the house in the Rajya Sabha, JP Nadda in which he has asked the minister the action taken on the issue of ‘purification’ raised by him in the Rajya Sabha. In the letter, Kharge reminded Nadda about the assurance he gave in the upper house that the incident would be investigated.

Godiyal said that in response to Kharge’s letter, the Bharatiya Janata Party has stated that it has nothing to do with those involved in the Haldwani incident. He said that the fact that no action has been taken against those involved in the incident clearly shows that the BJP is deeply involved in the act and it is trying to protect the culprits. The PCC president said that the State government should take immediate cognisance of the issue or remain prepared to face the legal consequences. He said that the Congress party has given a call to Gherao CM’s residence on the issue on September 7.

 Godyal said that the Congress party wants that the action on those involved in the purification incident should be taken and FIR should be registered against the CM and State BJP president for supporting the act. He added that the FIR registered on leader of opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi should be immediately quashed.
