Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed officials concerned to expedite work on the Haridwar Ganga Corridor, Sharda Riverfront Corridor and Rishikesh Ganga Corridor projects, prioritising their advancement. He said this on Wednesday during the fourth meeting of the Uttarakhand Investment and Infrastructure Development Board (UIIDB), where he reviewed the progress of key infrastructure projects in the State.
CM said that the primary objective of the Sharda and Ganga Corridors is to enhance religious tourism, strengthen the local economy and provide convenience to pilgrims.
Dhami instructed that tangible progress on these projects should be visible within the next six months. To achieve this, clear timelines must be established for each project to ensure their completion within the designated timeframe. He also urged for regular monitoring and reviews to prevent delays at any level.
CM emphasised that the main goal of establishing the UIDB in the State is to promote investment and strengthen infrastructure. He stated that all relevant departments should work with diligence, coordination and accountability.
Dhami asked officials to accelerate work on the Sharda Corridor project, which includes assessing land availability and identifying areas susceptible to landslides, while prioritising protective measures. He said that developing the riverfront along the Sharda River and beautifying the Ghats will enhance facilities for pilgrims and tourists visiting the area.
In light of the upcoming Haridwar Kumbh, the CM specifically directed that the Ganga be cleaned from Gangotri to Haridwar. He prioritised cleanliness, beautification and infrastructure enhancement at the Ghats of Haridwar and Rishikesh, stressing that providing better facilities for devotees is a top priority for the State government.
Further, Dhami called for special attention to quality, transparency and timeliness in all projects, aiming to accelerate overall State development and position Uttarakhand as an attractive destination for investment.
