Student injured at DAV event, police rule out knife attack

A class XII student was injured during a college programme at DAV College on Saturday. Initially, the incident was reported as a knife attack, but police later clarified that it was an accident.

The injured student has been identified as DAV inter college student Gaurav Kumar. He had gone to attend a singer’s performance at the college.

According to the police, Kumar stated in a video that he was standing near a railing when a large crowd gathered behind him. Due to the pressure from the crowd, he sustained an injury on his hand. According to doctors, Kumar sustained an injury on his left hand. After the incident, he was given first aid at the college dispensary and later shifted to Government Doon Medical College hospital for further medical care.

The incident happened after CM Dhami left the event. Earlier, there were reports of a clash between two groups during the programme, which further highlights concerns over law and order. Dalanwala police station in-charge Kulendra Rawat said that the police have received information about a scuffle between students, but no complaint had been filed by anyone in this matter so far.
