Rs 2,000 crore MoU inked with Poma Group of France
In a major success on the first day of the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s five-day visit to Britain, the Uttarakhand government entered into a Rs 2,000 crore Memorandum of Understanding ( MoU) with the French manufacturing giant Poma Group in London on Tuesday.
The MoU was signed by the secretary, industries, Vinay Shankar Pandey, on behalf of the government of Uttarakhand. Speaking on the occasion Dhami said that keeping in mind the geographical conditions of the state, there is immense potential for investment in the field of eco-friendly tourism in Uttarakhand. He said that Poma Group is a leading group in the field of ropeway construction in the world and it has experience of working in the State.
On Tuesday Dhami participated in a meeting organised in London for the global investors summit to be held in Dehradun in December this year. In the meeting Dhami met many leading industrial houses of London and held detailed discussions about possibilities of investment in Uttarakhand. The CM also extended an invitation to all the investors for investors summit.
Dhami said that the focus of the state government is on ecology and economy, along with tourism. He said that the state government is looking for different ways of investment in which there is a balance between development and environment. Addressing the investors in London, Dhami said that London is a major centre of the service sector. He said that being a mountainous State the agriculture scenario in Uttarakhand is different from other states. He said that almost the entire production of the State is organic and with the help of the summit, the organic products of the State can be delivered to foreign countries more effectively. The CM said that the government’s aim is that global investors should come to Uttarakhand, so that the industrial activities here can gain more momentum.
