The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has appointed Colonel (retd) Ram Ratan Negi as the state president of Uttarakhand Congress Ex-Servicemen cell.
He will replace Captain (redt) B S Rawat. Col Negi is a retired officer of the Corps of Engineering of the Army and possesses a Master of Technology degree from IIT Delhi. After retiring from the Army he has himself in social work. Negi is also associated with Jaswant Garh district Sangharsh Samiti .
Expressing gratitude to the Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, Col Negi said that he will work for the interests of ex-servicemen of the State. He added that it is the dream of youngsters in the State to serve in the Armed forces but the Agnipath scheme has shattered their dreams. Congress leader Mahesh Joshi and others have expressed happiness over his appointment.
