Colleges to open today after long Covid-19 break
Students to show consent letter of their parents, those coming from other states to produce negative report
After a gap of more than eight and half months many colleges and the other institutes of higher education would open in Uttarakhand on Tuesday. Though some institutes have adopted a wait and watch attitude on opening, but most of the colleges in provincial state capital Dehradun would start from Tuesday. The DAV PG college here which is the biggest college of the state in terms of student strength would open on Tuesday. A meeting of the proctor board was held on Monday in which a decision to open college in accordance with the Covid-19 SoP released by the state government was taken. To ensure social distancing norms in the campus, the college has decided to hold only practical classes and staggered the timing. The college has decided that the students of arts and commerce would come to the college from 8 am to 11 am while the students of science would visit college from 11 am to 1 pm. The media convenor of the college, Hariom Shankar told The Pioneer that the only practical classes would commence in the college and teachers would continue to take online classes of theory papers. He said all necessary preparations have been done to open the college as per the Covid-19 regulations and SoP of the government. “The students coming to the college would have to produce a written consent of their parents. The draft of the consent is available on the website of the college. The students coming from other states would have to produce a negative report of Covid-19 test to get entry into the college. We have made arrangements for sanitising students at entry point and at end of the day sanitisations of rooms and laboratories would be done,’’ he said.
The Doon University has decided that only the students of Ph.D would be allowed initially on the campus. The registrar of the university, M S Mandarwal said that the process of admissions in PG courses is going on at present. He said that the students of the UG courses are being taught online.As per the SoP of the state government, the students would have to maintain social distancing norms, should compulsorily wear masks and follow the Covid-19 guidelines
