PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun
The Communist parties of Uttarakhand have opposed the decision of the Union government to replace MNREGS with VB- G RAM G scheme. A meeting of the representatives of the three parties, the Communist Party of India (CPI), the Communist Party of India Marxist (CPIM) and CPI- ML was held at the headquarters of CPIM in Dehradun on Saturday.
The leaders of these parties said that by bringing in VB G RAM G, the Narendra Modi government wants to end the right to work. BJP has always opposed the Rural Employment Guarantee Act and the Modi government had started weakening it right from its first day in the office and now with the new bill it wants to bury it forever. The speakers said that after striking a blow on the rights of labourers of organised and unorganised sector through the labour code, the government has now launched an attack on the employment of rural people.
It was decided in the meeting that all the Left parties will hold a protest at Gandhi Park on December 22.
The meeting was attended by Samar Bhandari (CPI), Rajendra Purohit (CPIM) and Indresh Maikhuri (CPI- ML).
