The president of Kumaun Garhwal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KGCCI), Pawan Agarwal said that due to the stiff tariff hike imposed by the US Government on India’s goods being exported to the country, the export units based in Uttarakhand are likely to be affected, negatively impacting their competitiveness and thwarting economic development in this region. “Keeping this serious issue in mind, KGCCI held detailed discussion with the government officers. During the discussion, SIIDCUL managing director assured us that this issue would soon be raised at a high level before the Government of India so that the affected industrial units could get the necessary relief and support,” he said.
Also, he urged all the industries operating in the region to inform KGCCI about the likely adverse effects at the earliest so that their views and concerns could be placed before the Centre. He sought cooperation among all the industrial units operating in the region so that collective proposals and suggestions could be presented to the Centre.
