The party workers and leaders celebrated the victory of the Congress candidates in Badrinath and Manglaur by elections by dancing to the tunes of drum beats at the head office of the State Congress on Saturday. Sensing victory for the party candidates, many leaders and workers started assembling in the office from morning. Loud cheers erupted when the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara told the anxious workers that its party candidate Qazi Nizamuddin had won in Manglaur. By then the party candidate Lakhpat Butola had taken an unassailable lead over his rival in Badrinath. The Congress workers started a vociferous celebration by hugging one another. The workers burst firecrackers and distributed sweets to express their happiness.
Former minister Hira Singh Bisht, MLA Vikram Singh Negi, senior leaders Mathura Dutt Joshi, Suryakant Dhasmana, Navin Joshi, Garima Dasauni and others were present in the celebrations.
