The Congress continued to hold Justice for Ankita Bhandari Yatras in different parts of the State on Tuesday.

The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal led Yatras in Nandprayag, Chamoli and Gopeshwar towns of Chamoli district on the day. He said that the surging crowds in the rallies suggest that the soul of Uttarakhand has awakened. Godiyal said that it has become necessary to inform people of the State that the political power in the State has become despotic and it is now trying to save itself by destroying the evidence. Godiyal said that in the Ankita Bhandari murder case, the evidence was destroyed in a planned manner. He said that the BJP government has no reasonable answers to the questions posed by the Congress party. He demanded that a fair investigation of the telephonic conversation between Urmila Sanwar and former BJP MLA Suresh Rathore should be conducted. The PCC president said that the Congress wants a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe monitored by a sitting judge of the High Court . He said that a narco test of all the suspects in the case should be conducted.

Former chief minister Harish Rawat participated in Justice of Ankita rallies in Roorkee and Bhaganwar on Tuesday. He said that the CM of the State is trying to mislead the people in the Ankita Bhandari murder case. An attempt to ignore the public sentiments is being made. Rawat said the HC monitored CBI probe needed to know the name of the VIP and the name of the person who destroyed evidence in the case.

Former PCC president Karan Mahara participated in the Yatra in Ranikhet on Tuesday. He warned that the Congress party will intensify its agitation if a HC-monitored CBI probe in the Ankita Bhandari murder case is not ordered soon.
