Congress finding excuses for impending defeat: BJP

Wednesday, 30 August 2023 | PNS | DEHRADUN

The Bharatiya Janata Party has stated that the Congress will find it difficult to save the deposit of its candidate in the Bageshwar Assembly by-election. Reacting to allegations of power misuse levelled by the Congress, the BJP stated that it is already looking for excuses to explain its defeat in the by-election. Meanwhile, the party’s State in-charge Dushyant Kumar Gautam and other senior leaders including cabinet minister Satpal Maharaj are campaigning in Bageshwar while others including chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt will also campaign from September 2 to 3 in the constituency.

Talking to The Pioneer, the BJP State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said that it appears as if the Congress has already accepted its defeat in the Bageshwar by-election. “The Congress is looking for excuses and alleging misuse of government machinery so that it can blame its electoral defeat on that. The Congress is in the habit of alleging either EVM manipulation or misuse of government machinery whenever it loses any election and terming its electoral win a victory of democracy. It forgets allegations of the misuse of government machinery if it wins any election. The people of Bageshwar are appreciative of the development works facilitated by the late MLA Chandan Ram Dass and will vote overwhelmingly in favour of his wife and BJP candidate Parvati Dass. This victory will be bigger than even the Champawat by-poll win and it will be difficult for the Congress to save the deposit of its candidate,” said Chauhan.

The people are appreciative of the work done by the late MLA along with the works and policies of the State government under chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and will elect the BJP candidate, he added.
