Taking serious cognisance of safety standards being violated in various construction works in Dehradun city, the district administration has cancelled all work permissions with immediate effect. The executing agencies have been directed to remove their machinery and construction materials from the work sites within one working day and to restore the roads to their original condition within 10 days.
The Public Works Department, NH and other road construction agencies have been directed to depute engineers roster-wise and immediately start the repair and improvement of the roads under their purview. All the roads will be restored to their original condition within a period of 10 days, the district administration has stressed.
According to officials, it had come to the district administration’s notice that safety standards, signage/barricading and safety measures for the general public were not properly implemented during road cutting works undertaken by various executing agencies. The officials concerned of the executing agencies did not visit the sites to review the work of the contractors and the implementation of the safety standards was not ensured either.
