Congress manifesto a bundle of lies, alleges BJP

The reliability of the Congress is zero which the party and the people are aware of. This is why the Congress has made hollow promises in its election manifesto, opined the Bharatiya Janata Party state president Madan Kaushik. He said that Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi who released the manifesto should first explain what happened to the promise of fielding 40 per cent women candidates. Out of those who had been given the ticket earlier, the tickets of two women were later withdrawn by the party.
Addressing the media here on Wednesday, Kaushik alleged that the Congress manifesto is a bundle of lies. “The promises made in its manifesto are contradicted in the Congress’ ticket distribution. After giving the ‘Ladki hun lad sakti hun’ slogan and promising to field 40 per cent women candidates, the party withdrew the tickets to Dalit candidate Barkha Rani and experienced politician Sandhya Dalakoti. The Chhattisgarh chief minister comes to Uttarakhand talks of cooking gas cylinder for Rs 500 whereas in his own state it costs Rs 1,000. The former deputy CM of Rajasthan comes here and talks of unemployment whereas price rise and unemployment are higher in Rajasthan. The unemployment rate in Rajasthan is 20.3 per cent compared to 5.6 per cent in Uttarakhand,” said Kaushik.
Stating that the Congress is now raising the issue of slums, he asked what that party had done on the issue while in power, adding that the BJP government had brought in an ordinance to save the slums when the case had gone to the high court. He said, “They talk of Gairsain but did nothing when they were in power. The Congress which talks of establishing a Muslim university, indulges in appeasement and holiday on Friday is now pretending Uttarakhandiyat. Before announcing hollow schemes, it would have been better if the Congress had explained where it would get the budget for these schemes. They talk of super speciality hospital but did nothing for establishment of AIIMS, Rishikesh. Our government established AIIMS, Rishikesh, started work on its satellite centre and facilitated establishment of medical colleges.”
He further said that the BJP government has already formed a committee for the land law about which the Congress is talking. He claimed that the BJP fulfills the promises it makes, adding that after proper deliberations, the BJP will present its vision document to the public within a couple of days.
