The Bharatiya Janata Party has stated that the Congress protest march to the secretariat was nothing more than meaningless noise. There is no place for land scam or other frauds in the State, which can be seen from the action taken in such instances so far, the party said.

The BJP State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said that in the George Everest estate case which the Congress mentioned, three companies participated in the tender process which was completed as per the rules. Seven acre land is in use while the sloping land cannot be used. In case of the Dakpatthar land transfer, there is a plan for construction of residential colonies, commercial complex and other buildings on the said land. He also rejected claims being made about some land deal in the Ramgarh area of Nainital district. Chauhan said that the Uttarakhand Investment and Infrastructure Development Board has been formed to encourage investment and boost PPP mode projects. This body is working to encourage various tourism and religious tourism schemes, among others. A land bank of 6,000 acres has also been established to boost industrial development and investment in the State, the BJP leader said.

“Those who attempt to orchestrate land scams are on the government’s radar. The action taken by the government in the case of the Municipal Corporation of Haridwar is an example which the Congress should see. Nobody who is involved in corruption is being spared irrespective of the person’s standing. Lands are being freed from encroachment in the State with more than 12,000 acres of forest and other government land having been freed from encroachment so far,” he said. Stating that the Congress needs to introspect, Chauhan said that the BJP is moving forward on its policy of zero-tolerance for corruption. The people will not be fooled by the noise of disinformation, he added.
