Bharatiya Janata Party State spokesman and Dharampur MLA Vinod Chamoli, while targeting the opposition over the Ankita Bhandari murder case, said that the Congress is trying to mislead the people of the State by repeatedly making this sensitive matter a political issue. He said that instead of providing justice to Bhandari, the Congress is now raising new questions about the CBI investigation and is demanding that the investigation report be made public immediately. This demand itself exposes the political intentions of the Congress, because the investigation of any serious criminal case is done under a prescribed legal process and making the report or important facts public before the investigation is completed can affect the investigation.
Chamoli stated that the CBI is an independent investigation agency and is investigating the case in accordance with its responsibility. Congress should understand that the investigating agency conducts investigations based on available facts, evidence, and the law, not under pressure from political parties. Demanding the release of the report before the investigation is complete is neither in accordance with the judicial process nor in the best interests of the victim’s family. If the Congress has any facts or evidence, it should present them to the CBI, rather than attempting to influence the investigation through the media and political platforms. Whatever findings emerge after the investigation is complete, action will be taken in accordance with the law, the BJP leader said.
He said that Congress should refrain from petty and insensitive politics in this matter. Repeatedly raising a serious and emotional case like Ankita Bhandari’s for political gain is not only unfortunate but also an injustice to the feelings of the victim’s family. If Congress is truly serious about getting justice for Ankita, it should trust the independent investigating agency and allow the investigation to be completed, rather than creating confusion among the public based on incomplete information.
