Congress seeking political ground on foundation of lies: BJP

The Congress is making an unsuccessful attempt to regain its lost political ground by using lies, the Bharatiya Janata Party said. Responding to Pradesh Congress Committee president Karan Mahara’s statements, the BJP State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said that the picture in the George Everest Estate issue has been cleared as the tender process was conducted as per the rules and the allocation was made according to regulations.
The estate is a source of income for the State and has not been sold to anyone. The intention of the government is to make the estate the biggest tourist hub of Uttarakhand, he said. The executing agencies involved in developmental projects should not be viewed from a political perspective. Works being executed in a transparent manner will lend direction to developmental works and take Uttarakhand forward towards becoming a tourist State, Chauhan said.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has provided an interim package of Rs 1,200 crore for disaster relief to Uttarakhand even as Central agencies are touring the State to ascertain the cost of damage wreaked by disasters. The Centre has provided more than expected after every disaster so far and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is himself monitoring the disaster relief works,” he said.
Chauhan alleged that the Congress is using fake figures to spread its propaganda against the government and this has been exposed. An unreliable report spread in the name of the National Commission of Women was initially cited by the Congress but now it is on the backfoot after the gaps in the report were exposed. The law and order situation is better now in Uttarakhand and the Congress also needs to appreciate positive works as that is the role of a constructive opposition, he added.
