The Bharatiya Janata Party has accused the Congress of using caste politics as a shield to avoid accusations of Muslim appeasement. By spreading lies in the name of Dalits, the Congress party is trying to dent Uttarakhand’s image and mar its atmosphere. Addressing the media here on Saturday, cabinet minister and BJP State spokesman Khajan Das said that while the BJP never seeks to divide society on the basis of caste, religion or class, it never supports such activities. However, in its desperation for power, the Congress party has broken all political boundaries by spreading lies and misinformation.
Das claimed that the BJP has always strived to move forward by engaging all sections of society. He stated that the so-called purification was organised by a social organisation called the Shri Ram Sena Charitable Trust. The organisation’s officials themselves have clarified that it is a social organisation and has no connection to the BJP. Therefore, linking this action to the BJP without supporting facts reflects the Congress party’s political desperation.
The Shri Ram Sena Charitable Trust has also clarified that there was no anti-Dalit sentiment behind the event. According to the organisation, the event was organised to protest the alleged Islamic slogans and the alleged presence of anti-Hindu elements at the Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge’s rally. Das alleged that for the sake of appeasement and vote bank politics, Congress is spreading lies about religious and social incidents and turning them into political controversies. Congress should rise above such politics and focus on brotherhood, peace, unity, and social harmony in the state. Congress is focused on the Dalit issue, but its goal is to continue its politics of Muslim appeasement. Questions arise about the silence of Congress leaders regarding the slogans of “Allah-hu-Akbar” allegedly raised during the Ramlila stage controversy.
He alleged that now the Congress is trying to divide the Sanatan society to divert attention from its own politically uncomfortable questions. The BJP leader said that the Congress should first answer for its silence, as it should look at its own history before calling others anti-Dalit.
