The Dehradun senior superintendent of police Pramendra Singh Dobal on Saturday warned police officers that negligence in duty would not be tolerated and strict departmental action would be taken against those found responsible. He issued the warning during the monthly crime meeting.

The SSP directed police officers to complete all preparations for the upcoming elections on time. He also asked them to identify people involved in criminal and illegal activities and take preventive action against them under the Goonda Act and Gangsters Act.

Dobal directed officials to identify and seize illegally acquired properties of organised criminals. He also asked officers to pay special attention to complaints involving women, children and elderly people. He warned that officials who unnecessarily keep complaints pending could face disciplinary action.

The SSP also ordered faster action in serious crime cases. He directed police officials to identify accident-prone areas and conduct regular checking. He said strict action would be taken against rash and dangerous driving, overspeeding, drunk driving and overloading.

He also directed police to increase their presence near schools and busy roads during peak hours to improve road safety.

The SSP further directed police to take action under the Gangsters Act and PIT-NDPS provisions against people involved in land fraud and drug trafficking. He ordered officials to identify and seize their illegally acquired properties.
