Corbett’s Bijrani zone to open for tourists from October 15

The famous Bijrani zone of Corbett National Park will open for tourists from October 15. Corbett director Saket Badola informed that as every year, the Bijrani zone will be opened for day visits from October 15. Meanwhile, the Jhirna, Dhela and Garjiya zones of the park are already open to visitors. Additionally, the Dhikala (day visit and night stay) and Durga Devi gates will open from November 15.
It is pertinent to mention here that various forest roads were damaged due to heavy rainfall in the recent past. However, the Forest department has now repaired all the routes. Ramnagar divisional forest officer Ankit Badola said that the Sitabani, Kota and Kaladhungi heritage zones are also being prepared to open later this month.
It is noteworthy that in the Bijrani Zone, 30 jeeps are allowed for the morning safari and 30 for the evening safari. In Sitabani Gate, 120 jeeps operate in the morning and 120 in the evening; in Kota, 30 jeeps each in the morning and evening; and in Corbett Heritage, 30 jeeps in the morning and 30 in the evening take tourists on safari rides.
Wildlife enthusiast Sanjay Chimwal said that this year, a higher number of tourists are expected to visit Corbett compared to previous years.
