Nine deaths, 2,220 patients reported in U’khand on Thursday
The second wave of the contagion of novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) in Uttarakhand is getting more intense and fatal. The state health department reported 2,220 cases of the disease on Thursday which is highest this year and is on verge of breaking the highest ever number of patients of the disease recorded in one single day. On September 19 last year, 2,078 cases of the disease were reported which is the record in terms of daily cases of the disease.
On Thursday nine deaths from the disease were reported by the state health department. The state now has 1,16,244 (cumulative) cases of the disease and the death toll from the disease now stands at 1802.
The authorities discharged 397 patients from different hospitals of the state following their recovery from the disease on Thursday. A total of 99,777 patients have recovered from the disease in the state and the recovery percentage has now dropped to 85.23 and the sample positivity rate is 3.62 percent.
The provisional state capital Dehradun and Haridwar districts are witnessing an explosion of Covid-19. In Dehradun 914 cases of the disease were reported while 613 new patients surfaced in Haridwar district on Thursday. These two districts are having almost 70 percent active cases of the state.
The authorities also reported 156 patients from Nainital, 131 from Udham Singh Nagar, 105 from Pauri, 79 from Tehri, 55 from Almora, 49 from Rudraprayag, 29 from Pithoragarh, 26 from Champawat, 25 from Chamoli, 23 from Uttarkashi and 15 from Bageshwar.
The health department reported the death of three patients of the disease from the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital Dehradun on Thursday. Similarly two patients each died at Kailash hospital Dehradun and Ujala hospital Kashipur on the day. One patient each was reported dead at Himalayan hospital Jollygrant and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh on Thursday.
The state now has 12,484 active patients of the disease. Dehradun continues to be at the top of the table of active cases of the disease with 5,151 patients, Haridwar has 3,612, Nainital 1,269, Udham Singh Nagar 601, Pauri 531, Tehri 470, Almora 238, Rudraprayag 129, Champawat 125, Pithoragarh 124, Bageshwar 109, Chamoli 72 and Uttarkashi 53 active cases of Covid-19 each.
In the vaccination drive 34,552 people were vaccinated in different parts of the state on Thursday. In the state 2,11,763 people have been fully vaccinated so far as they have received both the first and second dose of the vaccine.
The Chief Operations Officer (COO) of state Covid-19 control room, Dr Abhishek Tripathi said that 557 vaccine sessions were organised in different parts of the state on Thursday.
