The Special Task Force (STF), Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and Sahaspur police arrested a medical store operator for allegedly selling Tramadol-containing capsules illegally in the Dharamawala area of Dehradun.

The joint team conducted inspections of medical stores in Sahaspur and Vikasnagar late on Tuesday night. During the checking, the team inspected a store at Dharamawala Chowk. While the store operator, Joni Saini, 37, a resident of Dharamawala, showed a valid drug sale licence, the team found a plastic container under the cash counter. The container had 14 strips containing 112 SPASMED capsules. The capsules contain Tramadol along with Dicyclomine HCL and Acetaminophen.

When the officials asked Saini to show documents related to the purchase and sale of the Tramadol- containing capsules, he failed to produce any valid records, STF sleuths, involved in the inspection drive, said. They further revealed that the accused had admitted during questioning that he used to sell the capsules in small quantities to people who used them for intoxication.

The accused was arrested from the medical store. Police registered a case against him under Section 8/22 of the NDPS Act at Sahaspur police station.

The STF is now investigating the source of the capsules and other people allegedly involved in the supply chain.
