Covid vaccination: Health workers to be immunised in first phase

U’khand starts the process of preparation of a database of health workers for immunisation.

With an objective of vaccination of the health workers and the health service providers with Covid-19 vaccine, the state health department has initiated a drive to prepare a database of these workers. For preparation of this database, task forces at block and district levels would be set up. Informing about the plan to vaccinate the health workers in the first phase of vaccination when it is finally available, the Secretary health Amit Singh Negi that training of the task force would be provided so that the work on preparation of database is expedited at a fast pace.

On Saturday the health secretary chaired a meeting of senior officials of the health department and discussed the process of preparing the database. In the meeting the district magistrates, CDOs and the chief medical officers (CMO) of all the districts attended the meeting via video conferencing. Addressing the meeting the health secretary elaborated on different categories of the health workers and health service providers. Negi directed the state immunisation officer Dr K S Martolia to coordinate with districts for preparation for database and directed that help of organisations Indian Medical Association (IMA) should be taken in this regard.

The health secretary said that as per the guidelines of the union government the Covid-19 vaccine when available would be administered in the health workers in the first phase. The mission director NHM would be the nodal officer for the vaccination programme and the state immunisation officer would be coordinator of the programme.

The meeting was attended by secretary in charge Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Director General (DG) of state health services, Dr Amita Upreti, Mission Director of National Health Mission (NHM), Sonika, Additional Mission Director, Dr Abhishek Tripathi, state immunisation officer, Dr K S Martolia.
